Effectiveness in ministry comes from more than a passionate spirit. Training is also an essential element of allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us in ever- increasing ways.
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul said,
“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever” (1 Corinthians 9:25, NIV).
And again, when writing to his young protege Timothy he said
“…train yourself to be godly,” (1 Timothy 4:7, NIV).
