In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul said, “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever,” (1 Cor 9:25). And again, when writing to his young protege Timothy he said “…train yourself to be godly,” (1 Timothy 4:7b).
