Every year at FamilyLife, we see thousands of men and women come to faith in Christ, and thousands more marriages and families healed and restored. Much of the transformational work the Lord does through FamilyLife is due to the passionate work of local volunteer champions.

As a Volunteer with FamilyLife you have the opportunity to allow the Lord to work through you to impact countless individuals, marriages, and families for eternity. Volunteers do this by engaging in four primary ministry activities: 1) Praying for the ministry, 2) Inviting people to outreach events and to join in ministry, 3) Equipping people with resources, and 4) Supporting/encouraging people in their ministry. Your specific role on the team determines how much time you invest in each. Volunteers also impact people by personally participating in the Weekend to Remember Invitation Plan – actively inviting their church and others to attend a Getaway. For all roles, you can anticipate investing at least one to two hours per week in ministry activities, and more as desired or needed.

Prayer Focus

These Volunteers impact lives by dedicating themselves to strategic and intentional prayer. They pray for their Team, for the ministry of FamilyLife in their area and beyond, for specific local prayer requests, and above all for transformed lives. During the Weekend to Remember they intercede onsite in a dedicated Prayer Room.

Weekend to Remember Focus

These Volunteers contact people who have expressed interest in the Weekend to Remember Invitation Plan, invite them to participate in that Plan, and then coach them to invite their church and community to a Getaway. This is done by having conversations with people, either in person or by phone, meeting with the local Team every one to two months, and serving onsite during the Weekend to Remember itself. Additional time commitments are necessary in the four months prior to the Getaway and for two months after.

Specific Roles Include:

Hosted Events Focus

These volunteers network with churches, pastors, and lay leaders in their area to foster outreach opportunities through hosted events, with an emphasis on The Art of Marriage, Vertical Marriage, Love Like You Mean It, The Couples Studies and Stepping Up. Since churches can host these events at any time, this volunteer role is less seasonal than the Weekend to Remember focused role. While it is not required, some Volunteer Teams make it their goal to line up one church per quarter or one per month. Some work towards city-wide campaigns with multiple events the same weekend.

Specific Roles Include:

Specialty Roles

Social Media CoordinatorLeads and coordinates local Team invitations via social media, assists fellow Team members in navigating technology, and maintains team internet pages and sites (if present).

Social Media Specialist: Serves on the local Team to help create social media and technology-driven invitational efforts. Primarily channels are Facebook, and Twitter,  and depending on team strategy, a specialist may only be focused on a single platform. Or a husband and wife may work together with each overseeing a different platform.

Spiritual Follow Up Specialist: Makes initial connection with individuals who make significant spiritual decisions at local FamilyLife events. Serves to help connect them with a local avenue to take next steps in their faith.

Military Community Liaison: Connects with military bases, chaplains, military-friendly churches, and others, to reach military families with the gospel, through FamilyLife events and resources.

Note: All of the above roles are part of the ongoing ministry of a local team. We also have opportunities to volunteer onsite at Weekend to Remembers. You can learn more about those opportunities HERE.
