Weekend to Remember Infant Care Policy

In regard to parents bringing their children into the ballroom during a Weekend to Remember, as stated on our website and in our invitational materials, our policy is as follows:

“Though FamilyLife cares deeply about your family, in order to keep your weekend free of distractions and as a courtesy to other guests, we do not allow children in our sessions, including nursing infants.”

It is important to note that parents may bring their children with them to the hotel, just not into the ballroom. Many parents do so, and leave the younger children in the care of an older sibling, a grandparent, or a sitter.

In spite of our best efforts, couples will occasionally miss this policy and will show up with an infant. In such instances, onsite staff will direct the couple to the Event Planner to resolve the situation. In the past, local Volunteer Team members have sometimes offered to care for infants in order for the parents to attend the sessions. Unfortunately, due to significant liability issues, this is no longer permitted under any circumstance. It also does not matter where the care occurs, even if it is in a guest hotel room, the Prayer Room, or even a private residence.

Neither FamilyLife Staff nor Volunteers may offer to care for infants or children while their parents attend sessions.

Other Creative Solutions

  • The Event Planner may offer to place a chair in the hallway for one of the parents, positioned where they can at least hear the content
  • The local team may maintain a list of recommendations for local professional childcare providers
  • The local team may offer to pay for professional childcare services
